Hiking the Appalachian Trail at Bear Mountain
Bear Mountain, New York - A newly rebuilt section of the Appalachian Trail at Bear Mountain was opened during National Trails Day at Bear Mountain on June 5, 2010. A ceremony and hike celebrated the reconstruction of this original section of the Appalachian Trail. More than 800 volunteers, along with professionals, built 800 rock steps a trail bed with rock walls.
